Minority & Women-Owned Business Program

The City of Hagerstown’s Minority and Women-Owned Business Program offers three (3) types of assistance:

  • Networking
  • Technical Assistance
  • Revolving Loan Program

Networking – Join us for our free Networking Events & Workshops.  Our guest speakers will provide you with information and inspiration.

 

2012 Schedule of Networking Events and Workshops
All events are held the Last Wednesday of the Month at the Bridge of Life Church, 14 S. Potomac Street in the Lower Auditorium.  Coffee and light refreshments will be provided at the morning networking events, and lunch will be provided at the workshop events.

Technical Assistance – To improve your business practices.

  • Grant up to $500 for one-on-one consulting or for a business-related training course.
  • IT Matching Grant up to $500 for computer training and computer purchase or Internet service for your business.

Revolving Loan Program – To help with costs associated with operating or expanding your business

  • Loan up to $7,500 with a 3% interest rate for the first 2 years and 5% interest rate thereafter for a maximum of 5 years.
  • Eligible Uses of the Loan Funds:  Overhead, Working Capital, Inventory, Equipment, and other operating or expansion costs.

Do you Qualify for this Program?

  • For-profit business located within the City of Hagerstown
  • Fully licensed, legally-operating and current with tax payments
  • 51% owned and operated by a person from a recognized minority or woman

Definitions
Minority-Owned Business – A proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or joint venture that is 51% owned, operated and controlled by a United States citizen who is a member of the one of the following racial groups:  African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, and Native American.

Woman-Owned Business – A proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or joint venture that is 51% owned, operated and controlled by a United States citizen who is female.

This project is funded by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).  SBA's funding should not be construed as an endorsement of any products, opinions or services.  All SBA projects are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis.
