Bicycle-Themed Mural Unveiled in Arts & Entertainment District

Sixteen students from BIFSA worked on the artwork which is now displayed in the back alcove of the North Potomac Street Deck. The project was funded through a Maryland Heritage Area Grant.
BISFA student Stephen Sheredy designed the mural which is entitled “Biking Through History.” Three student concept drawings were submitted to the Mayor and Council, and Sheredy’s work was chosen as the winning design.
"I really enjoyed the experience of designing and working on the mural.” said Sheredy. “It was an honor to create a work of art for the community.”
Dr. Teresa Roberts, Lead Teacher for the Visual Arts Students, lead the students throughout the school year on the project.
"As a teacher, I really appreciate the opportunity that the mural project presented for the Barbara Ingram Visual Arts students to learn about Hagerstown and the art of mural making," said Dr. Roberts. “We hope that the community will enjoy our efforts."
Students from the Primary Mural Team are Stephen Sheredy, Mural Design; Jordan Cannon, Student Liaison; Esther Chin; Sarah Gillelan; Liana James; Caitlin McPherson; Erin Mettille and Robin Sarmiento. Students from the Secondary Mural Team include Shelby Baugher, Gideon Beebe, Nahja Collins, Tyler Fitchet, Lauren Giannola, Kaya Johnson, Kayla Keeler and Ashley Sutphin.
