Hagerstown-Washington County, MD Ranked Among the Top 10 Metro Areas for Best Cost of Living
Hagerstown, MD – Business Facilities Magazine, a national business site-selection publication, has announced its annual “Best Metro Areas” report. Hagerstown-Washington County, MD has been honored as fourth in the nation for the “Top 10 Metro Areas for Best Cost of Living (less than 350k population).” This is the second year the area has received the ranking, which is based on the Bureau of Labor and Statistics and U.S. Census Bureau statistics, as well as Kiplinger’s, Milken, and Martin Prosperity Institute Surveys.
In the past year, Sperling’s Best Places.net, also reported Hagerstown Metro Area's cost of living is 12.62% lower than the U.S. average. “We are pleased to receive recognition reconfirming what our citizens and businesses have known,” said Timothy R. Troxell, CEcD, executive director of the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission (EDC). “Washington County is a cost effective place to live and do business, with the added benefit of being located just over an hour from the Baltimore-Washington, DC metro areas.”
