“Think reInk” in City Center Hagerstown
5/9/2011
Re-purposing will take on a whole new meaning when a thriving business out of Franklin County, Pennsylvania expands its operations in City Center Hagerstown.
The company “Think reInk,” an inkjet cartridge re-filler and supplier of remanufactured inkjet and toner cartridges, has agreed to be the store-front anchor tenant at 60 West Washington Street, the location which formerly housed the CVS pharmacy.
“We’ve been interested in coming to this location since we heard that the City was investing in the space,” said Mr. Nathan Rotz, President and CEO of “Think reInk.” “We believe your money is where your heart is, and the fact that the City is putting money into the downtown is very attractive for our business,” added Rotz.
The City purchased the space in April with vision of creating a business incubator to help advance growth in the City Center.
Rotz noted how the purpose of “Think reInk” aligns with the purpose of the retail space, “All of our store supplies are re-purposed and our companies focus is on re-using. With the re-purposing of this building, it just fits together.”
The building will be set-up to house two anchor tenants at the front and back of the location with several small entrepreneurs to operate in between.
“It’s a great location,” said Rotz. “There are around 3,000 businesses within 5 miles of this location. The heart of any community is downtown, and that’s why we always focus on being downtown.”
The company “Think reInk,” a division of “Innernet Inc.,” has been based in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania for the past 15 years and also has a store in Waynesboro. Rotz says the company has been hoping to create a Hagerstown location since 2009.
“Think reInk” provides ways for the public to save money on printing supplies while helping to save the environment by re-using and recycling.
“You wouldn’t throw away your car just because it needs gas,” said Rotz, “So we educate consumers to look at their printing supplies the same way and give them the resources to increase the life of their products.”
The City of Hagerstown is supported by several community organizations in the effort to help assist incoming small businesses with business-related training.
The Washington County Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, the Small Business Development Center, the Economic Development Commission and Frostburg State University have offered to provide referrals, workshops, seminars, marketing and promotion support, and one-on-one technical assistance to the entrepreneurs housed in the business incubator.
As an anchor tenant, “Think reInk” will also assist incoming small businesses, “We can help make it more economical for the businesses that are coming in,” said Rotz. “It’s really exciting to see someone else flourish and develop their dreams.”
The City purchased the property on West Washington Street with Capital Improvement Project funds and a Maryland Community Legacy grant.
There is a special session for the Mayor and the Council scheduled for Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 to approve the construction contract on the building.
“Think reInk” is hoping to open their doors for business in the summer of 2011.
If you are interested in meeting with “Think Re-Ink” President Nathan Rotz, he will be available for media interviews at the 60 West Washington Street location this Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. There will also be an opportunity to visit the Waynesboro “Think Re-Ink” store post the media availability.
